How Many Meth Test Kits Do I Need?

Each kit allows you to collect up to five surface samples, which are combined to produce one overall screening result. You can sample several locations within one room or combine samples from different rooms.

If you combine samples from multiple rooms and receive a positive result, you will not know which room or rooms contributed to that result. If you want to identify contamination on a room-by-room basis, use a separate kit for each room.

Our 1, 3 and 5-kit packs provide one, three and five independent screening results respectively. The number of kits you need will depend on the size of your property, the areas you wish to sample and whether you want separate results for individual rooms.

Rapid screening is indicative only. If a result is positive, independent forensic property testing is required before remediation decisions are made.

How Rapid Meth Screening Works

Our rapid meth residue test kits allow you to collect surface samples from selected areas of a property and obtain an indicative screening result in around five minutes.

  1. Select your sampling areas. Choose a location within one room or across different rooms. If you want a separate result for each room, use a separate kit for each room.
  2. Collect your samples. Follow the supplied instructions to swab the selected surfaces using the swab and buffer solution provided.
  3. Complete the test into one buffer solution and analyse using a single test cassette.
  4. Read your result. Follow the supplied instructions and compare the cassette’s test-line strength with the result-interpretation diagram.

Each kit produces one overall screening result. If samples from several rooms are combined, a positive result cannot identify which room or rooms contributed to it.

Where Should I Test?

Select representative hard surfaces in the rooms or areas you want to screen and follow the sampling instructions supplied with your kit. A result describes only the surfaces sampled; testing a few locations cannot establish the condition of every room or surface in a property.

What Do My Screening Results Mean?

A positive rapid screening result requires independent forensic property testing to establish the level and extent of contamination before remediation decisions are made. A negative rapid screening result applies only to the surfaces sampled and does not guarantee that the whole property is free from methamphetamine residue. No. A rapid result applies only to the surfaces sampled. DIY screening does not replace independent forensic property assessment or post-remediation validation.
